Jodi Harris, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy to individuals ages 14+ and couples.

Welcome!

Hi! I’m Jodi, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW - Virginia and Texas) who works with adults, couples, parents, and teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression, adjustment to life transitions, stress, health issues, and other challenges. I have a particular interest and skill set in supporting people living or working across cultures – including immigrant and migrant communities, individuals seeking refuge from community violence, expats, Foreign Service, military, and third culture kids (TCKs) and their families. I also have direct experience with and special interest in working with families affected by Type 1 Diabetes.

I work full-time providing psychotherapy services at the Arlington/Alexandria office of Active & Connected Family Therapy and via tele-therapy for clients living in Virginia, Texas, or abroad and connected to a US Embassy. I am also A&C’s Regional Director for Northern Virginia as well as the team lead for our clinicians supporting US Foreign Service families.

If you’re interested in working with me, please contact me through my Psychology Today profile.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is open, authentic, nurturing, creative, and collaborative. I work with my clients to foster resilience, cultivate insight, see things anew, and live in tune with their values and the vision of who they most want to be in the world. I believe deeply in my clients and am dedicated to creating an environment steeped in trust and compassion. I even believe that therapy can be fun!

I aim to create an environment where my clients can build their sense of self-compassion while working towards the shifts they’d like to see happen in their lives. In that sense, I provide a space where my clients can feel accountable to their goals - however they define them. I love to incorporate books, music, film, and art references into my work with clients and value supporting my clients with therapy “homework” that brings a sense of fun and creativity in their lives.

My work draws upon a variety of perspectives, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am also trained in Gottman Method Couple Therapy. I have extensive experience working across cultures and am committed to providing a warm and accepting environment where my client’s unique life experience is an accept to healing and growth.
